History

History Pre Zombies Paul was raised in a military family and learned discipline, duty and service to Queen and Country early in life. He graduated at the top of his class at the Royal Military Academy Sarnhurst in May of 1984 and was commissioned as an Armoured officer in the British Army.

Paul married Lady Celina Cavendish (oldest daughter of Peregrine Andrew Morny Cavendish, 12th Duke of Devonshire) on June 1st, 1989. Lola, his daughter, was born the following year. Paul loved his daughter, but was often strict with her in the same manner his father had been strict with him. This, coupled with his many overseas deployments, caused the father and daughter to become estranged by the time Lola left for university in 2008.
History Post Zombies Brigadier Felton was in command of the 4th Mechanized Brigade at Catterick Garrison in Northern Yorkshire when the Lazarus Pathogen Outbreak began in early 2010. Celina fell victim to one of the undead while doing volunteer work at a local hospital.

Division leadership fell victim to a horde of undead while driving in for duty. Brigadier Felton, being the senior most officer remaining, ordered the garrison troops to mobilize and head to York, the nearest population center in Northern Yorkshire.

Unsure of where his daughter was due to their estranged relationship, he dispatched a platoon of troops in Land Rovers to find his daughter and bring her to York. The last message he received was that she had left the university for the English coast, possibly in the East Riding somewhere.

JYork was a city besieged by the undead as Brigadier Felton and the 4th Mechanized Brigade arrived. He immediately set up a command post in the City Centre and ordered the combat troops to begin sweeps to eradicate the undead, while support troops began fortifying the area along with the few reserve troops already mustered by the commander of the 19th Light Brigade (reserve component / territorial army).

Security and social order were Brigadier Felton's priorities. It became apparent that what remained of the local government was unable to come to a consensus on how to move forward. He watched the political infighting and after a month decided enough was enough. He disbanded the City Council and instituted martial law.

Brigadier Felton knew that a totalitarian approach would only incite civil unrest and possibly even open rebellion. What he needed was a council of experts that could oversee essential functions that his own troops couldn't. He found knowledgeable individuals in industry, agriculture, sciences, city infrastructure and religion to form the City of York Privy Council.

Brigadier Felton knew that resources would be stretched. He ordered all armoured and tracked lighter vehicles to be serviced and placed in storage and troops to turn in heavy weapons for an issue as needed by mission basis. Only one armoured squadron and one Armoured infantry battalion would maintain modern warfare assets. The Royal Dragoon Guards and Queen's Royal Lancers regiments converted over to a horse-mounted cavalry and all infantry battalions were to operate on foot, with more and more of the internal support personnel transferred to the brigade assets. Throughout the next two years he kept York safe and even viable.

Brigadier Felton never gave up hope in finding his daughter. He occasionally would send out search teams into the East Riding to search for her, but patrols always came back empty handed with only vague rumors of survivor settlements beyond his sphere of influence in and around York. It wasn’t until recently his signal squadron began picking up radio chatter indicating his daughter may be alive in one of the coastal communities in the East Riding region.

Brigadier Felton is annoyed with winter settling in and hampering efforts in finding Lola. He is considering going against his better judgment of hunkering the Brigade forces down for winter or sending a unit out to investigate if his daughter is in one of the coastal towns along the North Sea.
